HDSF Jan 09' Mentors Workshop

On Saturday, January 10, 2009, HDSF welcomed Mr. Donald Watson, Executive Director of the Historically Black College and University Capital Financing Program in the Office of Postsecondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education. Mr. Watson, a native Washingtonian, shared his personal story of overcoming obstacles and reaching personal and career success with students enrolled in the HDSF Empowerment Program. After Mr. Watson's powerful speech our students, mentors and parents enjoyed a very informative workshop on the financial aid process, which was led by Cindy Forbes Cameron, a financial aid expert with the U.S. Department of Education. Ms. Cameron walked our students and parents through the arduous process of financial aid.
