From the 1979 BBC TV special on the Albion Band. Here they're rehearsing the song that would eventually become the title track to the classic Home Service album a few years later. Many of the same musicians are learning the song in this clip - John Tams, Bill Caddick, Graeme Taylor, Michael Gregory etc, along with Ashley Hutchings, Phil Pickett and so on.

I just keep on listening to this because it gives me a chance to see so many of the people I admire so much. Love Bill Caddick here, and if anyone ever wanted the deffinitive look of a folk musician, surely it is John Tams here?
Does anyone know who wrote this song, please?

@openfold And they've found an old recording from the Cambridge Folk Festival back in 1980-something. AND they're recording a live album on this year's tour. Couldn't get any better!

The marvellous John Tams. This song needs re releasing, it's politically spot on for the UK right now.

Possibly one of the best songs ever written. I was lucky enough to see The Home Service twice, in 1985 at Cropredy and again at Greenwich Town Hall, a real shame they called it a day. Thanks for posting!
