Has 8-track, phono, receiver. I found it being thrown out today. I cleaned it off as it was VERY dusty. Also replaced 8-track belt, though it runs slightly slower than normal.

  • Hey Cassettemaster!

I saw a very similar Panasonic stereo system being sold at an antique shop, they want 10 bucks for it. Just wondering if this unit is worth getting, not just collection-wise but sound and build quality-wise?

  • @Trance88 It's alright. The 8-track does have manual level control, but one meter. The record level is not only affected by the volume, but also by the balance, bass, and treble! The drive (after installing a new belt) is quite strong, so it should be not to bad a stereo.

  • Yep, another BSR workhorse turntable - don't know if your like me Ricky but I have a sixth sense about what is thrown out on the curb, I seem to be able to see Stereo equipment in amoungst the other trash - usually I'm right! Great find there... I'm am always amazed at what people will dispose of - equipment that is working fine or with a very small fault!

  • Well, I guess I had that "sixth sence" as I noticed the stereo amongst all the junk!

  • Dang, How in the world do you get so lucky to find stuff like that on the side of the road!?!?!?!

  • Riding home from church, I see a heap of junk being thrown out.(I always keep my eyes open for vintage audio) And I see a vintage stereo in the heap!! [A DUSTY vintage stereo]

  • Nice stereo! Sounds great, especially on AM

  • Hey Rick, I got that Panasonic stereo I was talking about. It's a model SE4070 from 1973 (date on the turntable motor October 22 1973). Works alright other than the 8-track. I think it's gonna need new power supply filter capacitors soon, it's got a moderate hum and it cracks and squeals occasionally.

  • I love these old systems.

  • neat looking unit..I like the green display

  • its got good bass. sweet

  • I like the glowing dials of old receivers
