In this video I talk about Piezo electric device/disk, its functions and an innovative application of the same which I thought of !
(I dont know if this has already been done but if any of you know it then please enlighten me ! )

  • I think your idea could also be applied with aeroplanes, since they collect a high amount of electrical charge from normal flight anyway. Imagine how much more energy could be collected using piezoelectric crystals and batteries! Plus, the surface of the plane doesn't come in contact with anything (as far as I know) so it could be safer for the crystals.

  • @blazingedge2907 nice idea

but air friction will be an issue

  • I don't know if piezo devices have been used like that, but three thoughts come to mind:

    1) They would probably not generate a lot of power; the voltage may be high enough, but the current would be very low.

    2) A small amount of power could be usful on a tire to transmit tire pressure data or something like that.

    3) You might want to try it out on a bike tire for prototyping. Perhaps with a small weight that would flex the piezo every rotation.

I will try to discuss your pints step by step but not in the comments box .......I will PM you

  • @kama437 Air friction should be less damaging than from the tires though...

  • Maybe you could put the piezodisks in between the rims and the tires, I think that should make them last longer

  • Interesting idea! When I first saw the title, I thought "Don't piezoelectric crystals generate only milliwatts of power? Even light bulbs require about 40 watts, so about 40000 crystals would have to be wired up at once to power a light bulb" But, if you integrate it with the wheels and store the power in a battery, it might work. I'm a bit concerned that the crystals might break though, cars are really heavy...

  • @CommanderStrike1 Thanks for subscribing dude.....I would be glad to help and dicuss about anything about science if u requireit!

    cheers
