  • Is there no iconstasis in this church? I'm not sure if I'm just not seeing it properly.

  • @ukerkater This little video is now over 3 yrs old! Perhaps I should take it down. Our small parish took over 22 years to raise enough money to buy a building/temple. I'm sorry we didn't have enough to buy and install an iconostasis right away. Not all of us are rich. You will be happy to know that we finally got an iconostasis installed about a year ago. I like to believe that God loves us even when we can't afford an iconostasis. Mother Stephania

  • Is it orthodox church? Where is it?

  • @Mamalyzhenko Yes this is an Orthodox parish, The Sign of the Theotokos ... a parish of the Orthodox Church in Ameria, Archdiocese of Canada ... located in Montreal. One of the priests in the video was Fr Tom Hopko, the retired dean of St Vladimir's Seminary in NY ... who is also our priest's brother in law. Matushka Schmemann, the widow of Fr Alexander Schmemann, is also a member.

  • where was..."Her Majesty Elizabeth the Queen", as my HOLY fATHER IN GOD VLADYKA JOASAPH of Vancouver &Western Canada as well as Vladyka Sylvester of All Canada would Chant ? • Hi abbaselma,

The priest who commemorated the head of state at that Liturgy was Fr Tom Hopko (the retired Dean of St Vladimir's Seminary in NY) who is not familiar with the way in which we commemorate the Queen and, like many Americans, thought of the Prime Minister as the equivalent of the US President. Please forgive a visiting priest. Be assured that our Rector, Fr John, does pray for the Queen at every Liturgy. In Christ, Mother Stephania

  • @srstephanie sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the defensive. I honestly wasn't sure if I was seeing the layout of the church correctly. My church is small and "in progress" too. If you could post a new video, I would love to see your church as it is now.

  • @3saintschurch You aren't wrong. However, churches that are large enough tend to have the procession of the Great Entrance down the side, to the back of the sanctuary, then up the middle as seen in this video. Smaller churches tend to just make the procession in front of the iconostasis and to the royal doors. So neither way is right or wrong, its usually a matter of feasibility. Blessed Lent!

  • What i do not understand and forgive me if i am wrong why is it that they go up the side and com dwon the middle.

I thought you must go to the side of the amvon, and in fron of the royal doors.

  • well said!
