Senator Barack Obama on Autism and Disability

"We must build a world free of unnecessary barriers, stereotypes, and discrimination .... policies must be developed, attitudes must be shaped, and buildings and organizations must be designed to ensure that everyone has a chance to get the education they need and live independently as full citizens in their communities."

Obama's comprehensive agenda to empower individuals with disabilities fits in with the campaign's overarching message of equalizing opportunities for all Americans.

In addition to reclaiming America's global leadership on this issue by becoming a signatory to -- and having the Senate ratify -- the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the plan has four parts, designed to provide lifelong supports and resources to Americans with disabilities. They are as follows:

First, provide Americans with disabilities with the educational opportunities they need to succeed.

Second, end discrimination and promote equal opportunity.

Third, increase the employment rate of workers with disabilities.

And fourth, support independent, community-based living for Americans with disabilities.

I agree with him almost completely. I just don't think prenatal screening for autism should be done because most people don't understand autism enough to make an intelligent decision regarding the condition. Those with high functioning autism and aspergers can do really well in society, they just need the educational supports to allow them to pursue their academic goals. People with more moderate to severe autism also can use assistive technology to help adapt easier into society (such as ipad).

You could be correct also. My friend, Cüneyt, resides in Turkey. He could have mistranslated or gotten the origin incorrect also. :) And, your English is fine with me. I have many friends who speak other languages and from various countries and they have their own way of spelling English words. It does not bother me. Iunderstood exactly what you said. ;-)

I absoultely agree! He sounds and seems so two-faced.

A friend of mine said that the word "politician" derives from the Roman words, "poli" and "tica" which means "lies" and "promises"...I remember him refusing to light it up blue. He obviously does not stand behind his word. I think he is just full of it, and says things to make morons believe his countless lies.
