Can someone explain to me what Alex injected into the side of the detective in the hotel? Was that fat? And why did it hurt?

I ordered this movie but it sounds very dark ... very unusual. Alex is such an excellent actor, I want to see how he does in this movie, if I can stand it.

They shouldn't have taken this scene out. Becuase they leave the ear injury in the original story line, so it only confuses people since it's not explained

I didn't see this movie (not sure if I wanna see Alex this way. LOL..) but I thought Alex is blond and clean shaven in this movie. Why does he appear dark and bearded here? Was it a rehearsal?

This was part of an entire storyline that got cut from the movie where Michael (Alex's character) pretends to be an NSA Agent to mess with the cop's head and throw him off the scent of what was really going on.
