I understand your sentiment, but you can't educate those who don't want to learn. Ignorance, as they say, is bliss. And, if those who want to believe what they chose to believe aren't open-minded enough to want to see things from a different perspective, then that's their problem.

Speak for yourself, I do not wish to be a 'subject' but a citizen of the UK. The Queen maybe a figurehead and something to aspire to for you, but to me the monarchy should have no part in Government, divine right to rule is not democratic.
As for the BP mess, several American contractors were involved with the construction of the rig that was destroyed. The way the clean up was handled by BP was very poor, but to attack a whole nation on this is unfair. BP not the UK was responsilble

I support the European Union because i think British membership of it is in our best national interests. I do not support a United States of Europe, the moment i feel its better off for Britain to withdraw i would support it. For example if membership required we abolish the monarchy, then i would support withdrawal from the European Union.

@Wazlor Just tell your Lord Browne handpicked by the Queen to get his ass down here and clean up the Gulf. The queen can bring a mop too. Who does she think she is anyway... a strong Cajan Woman her age is just as sacred as the Queen of England... It's the British that choose to believe that their own woman while always be less then your queen. Too patriarchal for me... it's cultish no doubt.

Do not waste you time trying to explain things to someone like Flopsideoflife and do not get offended by some of his nonsense.
You make a good defence of the monarchy and your loyalty to the Queen is impressive, sadly too many these days are exploited by republicans and seek to impose a foreign system on our nation, despite our system of monarchy working very well.
The last time royal assent was withheld by a monarch from a bill was over 300 years ago. Long before the USA was a country. :)
