So, I finally worked with somebody on a track. Although it's very dark, JJ3's words here are very true and the message of the poem is one we should all consider.
It's safe to say that this is again, another tone poem, with the talented writer reciting the poem to the music. I'll upload another video with just my piece in the coming days.

I would really like to hear your opinion on this, both on the music, and the message of the poem - I'm sure JJ3 would too.

Poem Lyrics:
I speak for the trees, simply because we cannot speak,
but I'm not nearly as humble and most would not consider me meek,
and the future for us is looking kind of bleak,
The question we're asking, what is it that you seek?
Do you seek the asylum of sunrise's sanity?
or perhaps the demise of mankind's vanity?
Do you think that us trees will just make like the manatee? just fall from the Earth as you mangle our canopies?
If Babylon falls, will it stop the insanity?
I speak for the trees because we have no voice,
and consequently we had no choice,
When men cut down all us great forests,
and put us in a cage to show to all the tourists.
Where we shout and we sing and we scream with impunity
Why won't you heed our message of unity?
Just open your arms we will enhance your energy,
We were put on this Earth to create such a synergy.
Cause we make the breath every man must breath,
you can't hear our chant staring at a screen.
So come outside and play, it's such a pretty day,
we love to watch you run and sit within our shade,
You know our leaves were made for this,
we're high on photosynthesis,
But lately we feel that something is amiss,
we're being suffocated by concrete's kiss.
Why step away from a state of bliss,
and trade the garden of Eden for this?
Bleedin' bumblin' biohazard crumbling cyst,
of a world culture about to pop,
silently we're screaming STOP!
Why can't you hear us, we know that you'd fear us,
If we could fight to put an end to this blight,
Why won't you humans heed second sight?
Loud every day and loud every night,
all us great forests are screaming in chorus,
IT'S OUR PLANET TOO IT DOESN'T BELONG ONLY TO YOU!
Imagine a world without any trees,
with oil in our oceans, and scum in our seas,
In a matter of time you won't have to imagine,
the only ones left will be the victims of fashion.
I spoke for the trees, now I speak to mankind,
there's no way we can all be that blind!
Did anyone ask the Earth if it minds,
if we kill all its trees and replace them with signs?
If they spoke for themselves would you heed their call?
If they spoke for themselves whispered one and all,
A whisper that endlessly whispered through halls,
Beware you skyscrapers, you subways you malls,
because we'll be around long after you fall.
So step back from your oak desks,
step back from your screens,
and come see what it's like to live a tree's dream.
If you opened your ears do you think you might hear,
the trees softly spoken silent sweet prayer?
Do you think one day man may?
Do you think one day man may?

  • Very powerfull work of art. It's a great, emotional poem with the music a fit. I know this is very hard to make, so respect to you Phil.

  • Hi Phil. The poem, you're right, it suggests, the message is very clear and true ... As for music, and a dramatic tone, fits perfectly, especially in sections where no voice. In the rest, maybe have gotten a little softer. However it seems very good composition. Greetings my friend.

  • @TheJosuaman As always, Javier, you give brilliant feedback. I'm glad you feel that way about the poem, I sure JJ3 will too :)

Thanks a lot for comments on the music, I'm glad you liked it. I'm hoping to do a John Williams sounding one soon :)
