Yes but it won't transfer the power through to the fly appropriately. So no, don't do it.

I'VE BEEN KNOWN BY LOCAL FISHERMAN TO BE ONE OF THE BEST. CATCHING SO MANY FISH FLY FISHING AND BEING WITHNESS BY EVERYBODY SINCE THE CHATTAHOOCHEE IS A METRO TROUT RIVER, I HAVE EXPERIENCE IN WHAT KNOT WORK ESP. NYMPES. I USE A DOUBLE LOOP CLINCH ALSO CALL THE TRILENE KNOT OR IF THE HOOK EYE IS SMALL A REG. CLINCH KNOT. DOUBLE LOOP IS STRONG BUT THE CLINCH IS NOT BAD AND BETTER THAN MANY. WET TYE KNOTS SEEM LINEARLY STRONGER THAN DRY CINCHING. HAVE A GOOD DAY!
