@figuristlubitel It's on one of the last pages of the Ice Skating Section, in one of those giant blurbs by IceSkating something-or-rather. Also if you google her in Russian, it's on like the third or fourth page.

@figuristlubitel Sorry, but I'm more inclined to believe an article in a Russian online-newspaper than a person on youtube. No offence, but the former just seems a little more legitimate.

@figuristlubitel No, she did do rhythmic gymnastics. Here is what her coach said:
Lipnitskaya, just 12, who relocated from Ekaterinenburg to train in Moscow in the spring of 2009, stands out because of her flexibility. “As a child she practiced rhythmic gymnastics, and that’s where that comes from,” her coach explained.
This is from an article about her so she was indeed a rhythmic gymnast.

@badgoodgirl1 No, she wasn't trained as rhythmic gymnast. She has this natural flexibility since her childhood. It is quite rare, that it is at the same time combined with such strong jumping ability.

@figuristlubitel Actually, she started out in RG. It was in an article about her that my friend found on google. You can read it on rsg.net. Anyway, You don't get that flexible without a heck of a lot of training. Yes, she has natural flexibility, but natural flexibility only gets you so far. (I'm a figure skater and rhythmic gymnast)

@xxJodelleFerlandxx I have a close contact with the parents of Julia. It is her mother, who told me she was never trained as rythmic gymnast. BUT – she trained in artistic gymnastics as a kid for a while, but not for the flexibility – for the jumps. The rumours about her doing rythmic gymnastics are strong and it is understandably hard to persuade everyone it is not the case!
