I quite agree that discarding the middle part (the dramatic part) takes away from the performance and the very purpose of the duet; they are friends, but also rivals. However, in spite of that shortcoming, a great performance by both of them.

Why would they remove the central part of this duet ?? this is absurd, it's impossible to understand the last sentences if you remove that
this duet is not just nice music, it's also part of the drama !
