Belvoir Terrace Music Camps Provide the Spark That Ignites the Music Mastery Fire
Belvoir Terrace provides safe, fun, and enlightening music camps just for girls. Music is everywhere at Belvoir. Nestled in the woods, 22 private studios offer facilities for private instruction in voice and all instruments. Classes in chorus, opera, chamber music and orchestra compliment private lessons.
Girls whose major interest is music spend at least two hours a day in our music camps with lessons, classes, and practice. Beginning students can choose two private lessons weekly. All students have an opportunity to perform in weekly recitals. Advanced students also enjoy exciting master classes, a performance at the Jesup Theater, and performances in the Lenox community.
Our recent music camps have been taught by master class teachers including: Marylou Speaker, violinist, Martin Katz, vocal coach, Leon Fleisher, pianist, YoYo Ma, cellist, Allison Charney, opera singer, Benjamin Zander, conductor, Dan Riley, flutist. Trips to nearby Tanglewood, as well as staff and guest recitals, are available to all of our music camps.
Belvoir Terrace art camps offer the young artist an opportunity for total immersion in studio work.
Drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, photography, video, and fashion are all offered in small art camp classes organized by age and skill. Fifteen professional staff members teach the girls in fully equipped studios. Art camp students enjoy working with charcoal, oil paints, canvas, silver, welding materials, clay, stone, and more.
Art camp majors usually elect four or more art classes or do intensive work in one or more areas. In addition to class time, art majors have the opportunity to participate in life drawing classes, open studio hours, gallery trips, art exhibitions, and talks with professional guest artists.
Our art camps are lead by professional artists, they teach classes of six to eight motivated young women, make Belvoir's art program outstanding. Whether the art camper is developing her portfolio for art school or exploring a new interest, the Belvoir art program works for her.
Acting camps are exciting at Belvoir Terrace
Fourteen professional teacher/directors teach acting camps in techniques, musical theater, improvisation, directing, Shakespeare, and all aspects of technical theater. Belvoir's theater program is designed for girls with a serious interest in acting and it also works well for those with less prior experience.
Acting camp majors elect daily classes in acting, Shakespeare, and musical theater, plus theater electives in writing, directing, costuming, and technical theater. They often compliment their training with private voice lessons and several dance classes.
All campers electing theater will participate in one or more of the popular performances for all of the acting camps. More than thirty quality shows were performed last season in the five fully equipped Belvoir theaters.
