Cheikh Lô is the the best. The ultimate pinnacle of mbalax rhythms...

I did not know that Cheikh Lo is Muslim. Islamic principles are interesting and more interesting is this nice video and his voice and music! thank you zenyattamondatta1!

Wolof is not as hard as Chinese but probably about as hard as Hungarian.

When I heard this song for the first time, it reminded me of Bulat Okudzhava. Look for Okudzhava's song "Prayer" (can't post link here, YouTube rejects comment).

As far as I know Cheikh Lô is a very, very devout Muslim. That's okay with me. Certainly, he is no fanatic. His music beatifully and gently lets us learn about his faith. That is again alright with me, although I'm not a Muslim.

Thank you for uploading!
Absolutely one of my favorite songs. I used to listen to this song for about two years via my car's CD player. And I am still not yet overstaturated... A great song; a great singer; and I just love those rolling mbalax rhythms!
Needless to add that I have collected all of Cheikh Lô's songs.
Maybe I should learn Wolof? The language sounds quite pretty and I reckon it cannot be much harder to learn than Chinese.
再见!

i heard about this guy from a cambridge practice reading test xD pretty cool music
Thanks for taking interest.
His religious belief is in Sufism which indeed should be read into for its intrinsically pure and peaceful approach to life and living. His music is a hybrid of various african flavours as well as cuban and brazilian additives.Isn't that what life should be? A natural mix of all things good!
