This car, driven by Burt Reynolds in the Smokey and the Badit movies, really put the Pontiac Trans Am on the map.

Also a really nice aquarium and Ripley's Museum there. Great town for a vacation!

  • Burt Reynolds wasn't "Smokey", dum-dum, he was "The Bandit". Jackie Gleason was "Smokey". Furthermore, all the T/A's used in the movie were destroyed in filming. Sheesh...geezers should stay at the bingo hall.

  • Too bad this isnt the real car from the movie... (but wait you idiot how do YOU know) I shall explain, the movie cars were "California Cars" AKA they had the 403 engine which the shaker would read "6.6 Litre" not T/A 6.6... watch the movie. im right

  • @genevawatch

I was just about to say that...

  • one trans am photo car was given to jerry reed it was to auction when he died last year

  • one trans am photo car was given to jerry reed it was to auction when he died last year

  • genevawatch have some respect for the older people.some day you may be one

  • @genevawatch now the thing is,you are partially right.yes, several of the TAs were destroyed while filming.I actually live local to the area where many of the scenes were filmed, including where the car jumped over the bridge.I can take you to that exact spot.As well, the exact spot where the scene was filmed of the cop car going under the tractor trailer and the top getting chopped off.But to say all were destroyed may not be 100% accurate. There may have been a couple for display and shows only.

  • @genevawatch George is showin his age

  • And the car isn't even an SE, like the ones in the movie, its a regular 78 trans am, doctored up to look like a SE. I agree with the comment earlier, who ever done the work on the car, done a horrible job.

  • I've seen the car personally, and you are not fooling anyone, the car is a 1978 Trans Am, and the movie came out in 1977, quit trying to make money off people.

  • i went there last year this car is horrible!the pinstripes were done from a roll not preformed and they screwed up all over it,the shaker is bolted to hood, door panles are incorrect, doesnt have the gold bezel or gold steering whl,has the incorrect 79-81 center caps, seat covers look like they were done by a kid.they tried to tell me the same bs that it was the only one that survied BS!

  • It might have been driven by Burt but not in the movie. All the movie cars were destroyed.

  • Cool vid -- the Bandit Rules !!!!!!!!!! .

  • thank you i'll remember that. :). i like to go see famous cars from films and this is one of the ones on top of my list.
