Chrysler products from 1957 thru 1962 used Lockheed Double Leading shoe brakes (total contact) on the front wheels vs. the other mfgs. single leading shoe brakes. Excellent brakes when they were in adjustment but scary bad when they weren't...and they didn't stay in adjustment very well.

"Total contact brakes" - maybe other manufacturers only fitted partial contact brakes?
