  • "Soldiers are not heroes"... I love how that sounds.

People in the "truth movement" and the "patriot movement" keep legitimizing the empire when they say they "support the troops" or talk of the empire's actions/agents as "we".

    It is THEY, not "we".

  • Nice job MAN!...

  • A hot guy talking about Murray N Rothbard and Austrian Economics... how often do you get to see this!!

    Keep up the good work!

How does a gun salesman not possess a monopoly on force? You can probably answer that one on your own.

  • @shadowgeyser

I've hardly "painted government so broadly," as you say.

The difference between the private gun salesman and the private defense firm that possesses chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons is that the one possesses a monopoly on force; the other does not. A monopoly on force is THE defining characteristic of government -- as Rothbard himself (echoing his mentor von Mises) wisely noted.

  • rothbard was an-cap, not minarchist

  • In the anarchocapitalist society that you're evidently arguing for (a la Rothbard and the Tannehills), defense is left to "private defense firms." Nuclear weapons, biological weapons, and all other WMD's are thus in the hands of private defense corps, who now have the power to wipe out the world (or whomever they choose). No prob. But do you know what that's called? It's called a government. Which is why intelligent minarchists (like Tibor Machan, et al) see no real distinction between the two.

  • Anarchism = no legitimate authority

Christian Anarchistm = no legitimate authority other than Gods.

  • Your argument near the end is very bad.. The idea that a soldier can declare that they cannot serve because it violates the constitution isn't 'real'. If a soldier were to do this, he would have an option, man up, or get into serious trouble.. It's called AWOL right? not good. By not doing what your commanding officer tells you, you'd be violating the entire reason you have been trained and paid. IF you had an easy case to prove such as torturing prisoners, that could be solved in courts.

  • Read Laurence Vance's book "Christianity and War". Its incredible. The most devastating blow to the warfare state ever written. Its from a radical libertarian perspective and is even Ron Paul and Lew Rockwell recommended.

YouTube "Laurence Vance" and check out some of his speeches.
