This is only one part of a bigger system. In no way is this complete so keep the hate mail to a min. will yeh. This is a very important part of any rescue system. These knots and hitches are covered else where in the video series in more detail.

  • Thanks mike, Where's best for the alpine clutch, nearest the load or furthest from load. Also doesn't look too safe as gates are not opposed, is this ok or would screwgates be better?

Appreciate the vids! thanks again. Ollie

  • awkward to get the rope into the biners if they are opposed. Not sure that that is an advantage anyhow as it only has to come out of one to fail. Honestly never done it that way. If you take two locking biners and place them together you will see that the gates prevent the biners from binding down on the rope. It will lwork sort of sometimes depending on the biners but as you have a live person on the end of your rope you may want something that will bite down without fail. Hence nonlockers

  • The location is right off of the anchor. It is the only practical place to put that I know of. Not sure how you would move it or even if there was a practical way to do that.

  • @mike: i am using philips electrical toothbruch "sonicare" since several years. you should consider presenting that as well!

  • Interesting will have to check that out

  • When you are doing your ratchet cam with the prussik and italian hitch, why would you favour lowering on the prussik rather that just doing a soft release of the prussik on the main line and lowering on the main line. Its much more controlled and the main line is much higher rated. Also when lowering on the main line the prussik can still act as a ratchet cam compared to when lowering on the prussik where there is nothing that will catch the load if you lose control.

  • What? That makes no sense. Been awhile since I have watched this vid will have to do so again. Wasn't there something about slipping the prussik onto the ratchet for a raise not a lower?
