On Tuesday, October 4, Springfield City Council heard a request from a handful of representatives of Springfield neighborhoods. The request was for the city to consider adopting a registration and inspection program for single family rental residences in the city.
HBA of Greater Springfield CEO Matt Morrow, who co-chaired the city's strategic planning committee on housing, urged council members to take a measured approach, sharing that the number of code violation complaints received annually by city officials amounts to barely 1% of the total number of single family rental units in the city.
Here, KY3's Linda Russell reports on the meeting on the Tuesday evening newscast.
