Guy St. Clair is President and Consulting Specialist at SMR, a New York-based management consultancy focused on helping clients develop a strengthened framework for enterprise-wide knowledge development and knowledge sharing (KD/KS). The critical result is an corporate knowledge culture, a balanced environment that ensures the realization of the organization's vision and the achievement of the organizational mission.

In addition to his work with SMR, Mr. St. Clair serves as Strategic Learning Consultant for Columbia University's M.S. in Information and Knowledge Strategy. In 2011 and 2012, he will teach two courses in the program: Leadership and Management in the Knowledge Domain and Entrepreneurial Knowledge Services.

Guy St. Clair is the author of SLA at 100: From "Putting Knowledge to Work"® to Building the Knowledge Culture: The Special Libraries Association 1909-2009 (SLA, 2009); Beyond Degrees: Professional Learning for Knowledge Services, (K.G. Saur, 2003); Change Management in Action: Industry Leaders Describe How They Manage Change in Information Services (SLA, 1999); and Entrepreneurial Librarianship: The Key to Effective Information Services (Bowker-Saur, 1995). His frequent observations and recommendations about the connections between excellence in knowledge services delivery and organizational effectiveness are published at the SMR corporate blog (www.smr-knowledge.com).

Mr. St. Clair is the recipient of several awards, including the John-Jacob-Astor Award of the Checkpoint Charlie Foundation of Berlin, Germany, presented annually to recognize a single individual who has contributed significantly to the exchange of knowledge between Europe and America. He received the SLA Professional Award in 1989, was SLA's President in 1991-1992, and in 2010 Mr. St. Clair was named to the SLA Hall of Fame.
