@Yugz13 that is a really good tactic for mma or cage fighting, but in a self defense situation very stupid indeed as the aim is to escape as quickly as possible, his response isn't advanced it's straight forward, leg shoots followed by ground and pound and submissions are long and complicated as this leads to a "fighting" situation and that is what self defense combatives try to avoid.

bear in mind you don't know if the guys friends are behind you waiting to stab.

Lol that's fucking advanced bro. Honestly, I find that a proper defense for the haymaker is shooting for a double leg takedown since the guy is off balance and you have the time to see the punch coming, so you get him like that, he's gonna stay surprised enough time for you to mount him and deliver some ground n pound or go for an americana submission if you know Jiu Jitsu.
