With our current system, the pro-military families are the ones who are suffering. It's changed some people's minds about what a wonderful career option killing people is. They want to do is make the anti-war activists feel the pain, send THEM to the desert.

.The National Guard, now trained, hardened killers, will be called upon to "keep order" when/if the pubic decides it wants to protest the draft.

Politicians are interested in getting re-elected by the voters in their districts. Do you think a Democrat like Heath Shuler, who represents a very conservative part of rural North Carolina, is going to walk in lockstep with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (a liberal from San Francisco?).
