April 2012 I set out to compete in the International Whistling Competition - and make a documentary about it. This short film explores not only the fascinating people who converge once a year for this quirky event; but also tells the unexpectedly touching stories of people who discovered healing and therapy through what may be dismissed by many as silly: whistling. Hi Ien Chi, your films are great and very inspiring. I like your Tick Tock film the most :D. Anyway, I will be making a documentary too this coming December. I'll be using my Canon 5DMII and Canon 16-35mm f2.8 L2 USM and Canon 50mm f1.8 lenses. For audio I have H4N and NTG-3 shotgun mic. Can you give me a tip as to how should I set up my stuff for run and gun docu? Do I have to roll the audio continuously and clap everytime I shoot a scene? Sorry I am not a film student and I do this as a hobby

Hello friend.

If you're runnin' and gunnin', I suggest taking a look into getting an attachable mic for the camera like a rode videomic or something similar. H4N if you have another person would work, but not if you're doing it all on your own methinks.

Hey, thank you for making this film! I've been wanting to go to the IWC for a few years now (ever since I learned of its existence), and I haven't ever been able to afford the trip cross-country to do it. You just gave me an incredible glimpse into what I've been missing, and now it makes me want to go even more! Best 14 & a half minutes on YouTube!!

what would have been good is to end the film on whistleing music, instead of the tune you had.. the tune you used was alrite, just a whistling tune would have been better I think.. eg that black guy, would be nice to hear him sing for longer good stuff

My favourites were the black guy who won, amazing 'whistle-'voice' and the girl who did the two tone whistle; never even knew that was possible!!
