It doesn't sound like anything is wrong with it. Remember that it burns fuel so it can't retain it's original colour for long!

I suppose. But the cost is pretty low by buying the pipe insert and you have the normal one as the windproof alternative as well.

You can still light a pipe with a normal zippo but that one is a lot easyer
