This produces a sound a little like a Leslie speaker as used on Hammond Organs but in this case the whole speaker itself turns. I designed and built it myself and it cost me nothing!

  • sounds really good, how do you keep the speaker wires from twisting up when it makes a revolution?

  • @A72ism The speaker is wired to brass rods sticking out of each end of the axle and the amplifier is connected to copper strips which contact them.

  • how do you get it to stop facing forward? Is there a weight? - if so does that make it wobble?

  • @eejay999 No the foam rubber covered bar just grabs the back of the can as it comes around (most of the time!)

  • how much would this cost ?

  • @internetid000 I don't sell them and I'm not sure how much it would cost to build, I built it out of junk, all I paid for was the wood and paint.

  • Great project! you're officialy a proffessional DIYer. Greetings from Argentina.

  • @blueduck577 I think he did. It was more like a little poot.

  • cool idea. but its not even close to a rotary speaker. its a rotating speaker. fuck.

  • great stuff. i'd like to build one for myself.

also did you fart at 1:52?

  • cool

  • very, VERY cool :P if i had the space or time to make one i would :P

  • wow so the copper strips just ride the brass pole pieces?I'm surprised that that don't generate unwanted noise in the signal,it sounds really good man, good work on that,I love how you used household items to build somthing really cool,btw-how wide are the copper strips that ride/contact the pole piece the speaker is hooked to,and how thick are they?I ask because I would like to build one too, thanks for your time

  • Genius! It sounds really cool.
