Poverty is a degrading, horribly demoralizing existence. It lives with you 24 hours a day. It never leaves you or your soul.
You get 1 life to live, avoid poverty like the plague, if you can.
It's still a dog-eat-dog world out there. People say they care, but they don't.
No one wants to be around poor people. Poor people are shunned. I have seen it over and over.

@Tomaldinho9 That isn't always the case. who are you to judge!
I've met Teachers that are living on the streets.
I know people who have had trades and High school Diplomas, gone to collage.
Most of the people that are living on the streets are old. and have disabilities.
Mental and Physically.
And most of them can't get a job because of those reasons or because they don't have a perminate address or reliable car. Thats not a excuse, thats the way it is.

My husband and I are living in basic poverty. We are both employed full time but he has a terminal illnessand is not always able to work. His ilness also takes a good part of our finances between monthly Dr's visits and his medications . We have to keep our heathcare but it is near doubling this next year and our deductible has also almost doubled do to the healthcare reform. Yet because we are both employed with insurance we can't get any help. It is a vicious cycle.

@Tomaldinho9 What about people with learning disabilities? What about people who aren't aware of the resources out there? What about the kids who go to public schools but aren't getting the same amount of kids as say the middle class?
I guess this attitude will never stop as long as we follow along the old lines of this ignorance.

@newfful the reason those people are poor to begin with is because they didn't educate themselves. It's not how hard you work, its how smart you work, and those people didn't work hard enough in school.

@choii25 oh please! look at the statistics before making assumptions!!
Poverty isn't an easy thing to go through. I know because I'm facing poverty right now. A 14 year old child made fun of in school for the cloths he wears. For they are cheap and not new. Why must America be so greedy and not help those in need? I have no guidance; I must be my own guidance. It's a terrible thing to go through. I hate to see it or even to be in it at that point. What does the US gov. do about these cases of poverty? Hardly anything at all.

It might be their fault. But it most likely is not. The highest demographic of poor is children.
Please tell me how a child is lazy. Is it because they aren't begging for a job? Is it because they are spending it on drugs and alcohol?
Please tell me how it's their fault that they make up 35% of the population living in poverty.
I'd like you to see you BULLSH!t your way around this.
Learn your facts before opening your uninformed, ignorant, pompous mouths before spewing CRAP.
k? Thx.
