I know this is long after, but maybe its because you need at least 1 fan/tai aka doubles. (not to be confused with EYE), doubles is like the way of counting how good the cards is. what u have is called chicken hand, meaning its worthless :) like what nyhunter77 said

I'm new at playing mahjong, I got a question:
If nobody gets mahjong, and all of the tiles are drawn, so there's no wall, what happens?
In the first game shown I think that happens, nobody wins when every tile is drawn, they seem to just shuffle and start again...

If you mix the common tiles without having straights (chow/seung) or triplets (pong), then that's considered a chicken hand (gai woo) worth zero points. It doesn't matter what wind the round is if you only have a pair because the points are only calculated if you make a triplet or the honor tiles (fan jee) AND those honor tiles match your seat.

i'm playing the popular "Mahjong" of Nintendo and i can't win with the hand that i have:
*i have in my hand*
2, 3 y 4 (characters)
8, 8, 8 (characters)
1, 2, 3 (dots)
5, 5 (dots)
East, East (winds)
*i get from the wall*
5 (dots)
someone knows why i can't win?, maybe some rule that i'm ignoring it?, thank you for your answers.
