Remembering Noor Jehan - Zikr Uss Pari Wash Ka - Part 5

The opulent melodic landscape of subcontinent music found a new dimension in the early 30s which mark the advent of the most popular genere of popular music that is the film song. No detail of this new advent or the general melodic culture of the subcontinent considered complete without a rich reference to the personality and artistry of Madam Noor Jehan.

The current upload a consists of a documentary produced back in 1999/2000 which may be considered as one of the earliest serious attempt of analyzing the genius of Noor Jehans singing skill and artistic philosophy. Consisting of several parts, the three-hour documentary highlights only a few significant biographical aspects and melodic virtues of this great nightingale. This attempt was made by a single ardent fan of Madam Noor Jehan and is dedicated to the millions of her fans spread world wide who adore this lady who has been responsible for the evolution and refinement of their listing taste.

It has been a mutual pleasure and privilege for me and Dr Omer Adil to have found and known each other, because we share our love for the finer things in life, the top most being the music of Noor Jehan. He has most graciously allowed me and actually requested me to upload this series of program on the occasion of Madams 9th Anniversary.

I hope that this upload provides pleasure and a chance to evoke fond memories of madam in the hearts and minds of fellow fans.
