DO NOT remove any needles from a dsm cluster. Especially not your fuel gauge. You will not be able to put it back precisely. You will need to buy another cluster. Indiglow gauges are made to fit OVER the stock faces.slide it over the needle and done
I used this method on my mazda 626, installing indiglow gauges, no scratches and it was alot easier. Granted the video was a little rough on the gauges but this is an easy way of doing it. Indeed certain cars you don't want to pull the needle off because you may not get them to work at all again, and many you will have to re-calibrate them (which I had to, but it's not that difficult). However as far as tools to do this, this is one of the easiest methods I came across. Nice innovation.
Ouch-Crude. Very likely to mark guage face and leave permanent dents. At least place a business card with a notch torn out of it in there. But be warned - this method will permanently ruin a BMW 5 series, Mazda 6,Honda Accord gauge and many others. Also, if the needle rests against a tiny pin (the stop pin) when it's at zero you must not try this method. These things are not meant to be tampered with unless you know what you're doing and have the means to repair any damage you cause.
