I'm still not certain if Behkabad just didn't take to the surface and tight turns at Churchill Downs in this race? Or if he was just a genuinely tired horse when he arrived in Louisville from France? Because he was by far the highest officially rated horse in this field. A horse that had just won the G1 Grand Prix De Paris, the G2 Prix Niel, and had just finished 4th of 18, beaten just over 3 length's by Workforce in the G1 Prix De l' Arc De Triomphe should have pulverized this field!! TJMO.
The weakest BC Turf I believe I can ever remember? Which got exposed as being just that in the 2011 Sheema Classic. When the winner of this race, Dangerous Midge, ran stone last of 14 in the Sheema Classic. And the 2nd place finisher in this race, Champ Pegasus, finished 12th of 14 in the Sheema Classic.
Al Khali REALLY pissed me off this race!. I watched live at Woodbine for the Pattison International, and after all the traffic he got into in the stretch, and closed like an express train for 4th. I backed him again in the BC Turf, and he just doesn't show up.
I can't BELIEVE....the betting public let Franco!!...go off at 8-1...this horse should have been at LEAST 5-2....i laughed all the way to the payout window!! FRANCO!!
Damn. That horse has such a LOOONG stride. He looked like a cheetah, a few strides before the wire. Who knows how much he would have opened up if the wire was a little farther back...
Would have loved to seen Redwood come to the B.C. Turf after finishing 2nd in France in the G2 Grand Prix De Deauville, then a win in the G1 Northern Dancer Stakes at Woodbine. Followed by a 3rd place effort in the G1 Canadian International Stakes at Woodbine. The winner of that race, Ballydoyle's Joshua Tree, would've had a big shot in this race as well, IMO. If both Redwood and Joshua Tree had come to Churchill Downs. The B.C. Turf would've been much more competitive than it ended up. IMO.
This horse is still improving and there may yet be more to come but who would have thought he could be up to winning this? Even if was a slightly below par renewal.

@GBeret83 Actually CP's lifetime turf record is 10: 5-4-0; hell of a good record though. Watchout for 8-Rewilding.
