Just spotted this one on craigslist...real nice! I've always wanted a VW bug EV. I have three split-window buses already, tho'--but if an engine goes out beyond repair...you can just bet it'll be an EV. I already have a Datsun 620 pickup truck conversion. Clutchless, like yours. Lots of fun! Sounds like mine, too..I usually keep it in 2nd around town.

How much did it cost you to convert it into pure electric car? Did you take out the old engine & replaced it with a dc motor? Did you keep the original transmission? Not counting the battery, how much did it cost? Does this set-up of yours have aircon & heater?

Yes, I removed the orig engine to make space for the electric motor. I kept the orig transmission. No aircon, in Seattle you dont need one. No heater, just jackets for now.

Thanks Paul. Just waiting for your awesome controller. Can't wait to add more batteries, and then and only then it will become more normal car.
