This video documents some of the success I had on a solo mission and 2nd attempt at trying to catch a fall male Kokanee (landlocked sockeye) salmon. These fish were caught on November 1st, 2009 in Connecticut. It had been a goal of mine to catch a fall Kokanee right here in New England. Most fishermen in New England have never even heard of them or even know that a near by fishery exists. In the spring and summer these fish are silver but come fall the males grow a humpback, their bodies turn bright red and there heads green. They also grow a extended kype and jaw, that sports some serious k9 like teeth. I think these fish are the prettiest and most unique of all the cold water game fish in New England.

  • Anybody can catch a salmon there at that lake. I live about 30 minutes from it. I pulled out some big browns and a 7 pound bass out of there. All you got to do is go near the sandy beaches along the lake with a net and just scoop them up. Really not that hard to catch. They also hit small rubber swimbaits

  • I guess anything would be easy to catch if your using a NET....LOL!

  • @TLHookUp Same thing your using. It looks like your sitting on a rock near the blue cabin which is right near the first sand beach waiting for them

  • Glad to hear your using a rod. The kokanee in this vid were spawning & when they spawn they generally stop feeding & hit out of aggression & anger to protect their bed. I had to make a million casts for each koke until I finally pissed each one off enough to bite. In my humble opinion just because you can sight fish for them doesnt make it easy. But if you have the magic touch Id love to see you post a Fall kokanee vid. Im always open to learn & try new tactics.

  • man, amazing video, thanks for sharing. 5*****
