Rio Favela Shootout

Shootout that took place on Nov 12, 2008. This footage was shot from a terrace about 400 meters away. As usual, the Policial Federal and Traficantes of the Favela Pavaozinho don't agree on who should be in charge of the city. I suppose this is one way to resolve their issues. 4 dead, many injured.

@johnnylawrence123456 Outer London and course theres crime here, but I don't get people having shootouts on my streets and a local police force that's too scared ti even go near the houses unless their in a helicopter... Once more the majority or people abide by the law and thats more than you can say about favelas..

@JimmyTheKiller i understand your point of view because i have lived in developed parts of the world. in rio, the crime is different and driven by different needs and factors. it's not that the police are "scared" but rather corrupt. they stay out because they are part of the problem. the shootouts happen only in the favelas and not between residents but only the police when forced to go in for other reasons. living below the hill and on the hill are like two different worlds.

THey ought to sterilize all criminally predisposed people. Pay the favela women 500 reais when they are 16 to get the procedure. Population rates, in the poor demographic, will drop, so will crime and quality of life for everyone, the rich and poor alike will improve.
