  • Klemperer gradually slowed the tempo of the Beethoven symphonies through the 1950s-1960s. By this time I think he had overdone a good thing - although it is still a beautiful interpretation.

  • This is the slowest I have ever seen or performed this peice. Not the string passages but the tutti passages. Plus I have never seen an orchestra made entirely of french bowed bass players! In every orchestra I see now I mostly see german bows.

  • Absolute genius.
