My dear mother-in-law has shared stories about the Japanese occupation of Leyte when she was a small child. Rape and torture was common; starvation and extremely difficult life conditions. To this day, Americans are loved, admired and respected for the sacrifices made to liberate the islands. An unforgettable perspective and reverence for veterans is gained, if you ever come here. Thank God for Douglas MacArthur. I hate what he did in Washington, DC to the War Bonus protestors, however.
