This is a video question for the CNN debate. The question is set to music and it concerns the No Child Left Behind legislation that is wreaking havoc on our public schools! Posted by Randy McGirr from Trona, CA.

  • Great short video. Gets your message seen more ofte. Continue making videos. Have your friends create their own videos with the same message. By having the message spread more, the better chances it has to be heard.

  • The video had to be 30 seconds or less. It was funny watching Anderson Cooper introduce it at the CNN/YouTube Debates last summer! It seemed that he wasn't quite sure what to make of it!

  • This was the best question of the night. Of course, being a teacher, I might be a little biased, lol. Still, out of all the NCLB questions that were sent in, I'm glad this one was chosen. It was superb. I'm just sorry that all the candidates were not given the opportunity to respond.

  • Thanks! I would have really liked to hear Kucinich answer this one.

  • Short, to the point, and exactly correct.

  • Thanks. The rules stated that the video had to be 30 seconds or less and so I packed as much as I could into the time I had.

  • @tarog68 see the video nclb-why it isnt working by BodhiSnitzle

  • This was great

  • Want smart education?

Then empower kids to learn how to be entrepreneurs early on in life. Schools should teach the subject, after all these kids are either going to work for a company (profit or non profit) or create their own path by owning businesses. Let's really teach them real life lessons. Why do we still have to follow the industrial age style of education while we are in digital, service- oriented age?

  • "I think by now everyone who pays attention realizes that NCLB is a backwards system that rewards schools who don't need funding and punishes schools who need it most." I wish everyone realized this. Good point!

  • Props on getting selected

  • Great question, but you asked it in a very annoying way.

  • I spoke to DK personally about NCLB in '04; I drove all the way from Palmdale to Orange County to do so. Based on what he shared with me then, I don't think he'd support reauthorization today. He was appalled at the focus on testing, blaming, and punishing; he's focused on a position of support, not control.

Perhaps you could send your question to those that didn't get a chance to answer, and share their responses here?
