Our new photography tutorial video series is just around the corner. The new video series demonstrates how we light, pose, photograph, and process images. Many of the images we shoot for this video series will become portfolio additions for our commercial website, SeattleCreativeWorks.com.

Tim and I put together a candid 17 minute video of us discussing our photography backgrounds, how we find inspiration for images, and our thoughts on "breaking the rules". We neglected to state when we began photographing full-time. Tim began photographing commercially about 15 years ago in Miami. My commercial photography career began in 1990 when I was based out of Los Angeles.

In the video, I mentioned several photography websites that we like for creative inspiration. The websites feature a few of the top fashion, portrait, and still-life photographers in the world. Don't be intimidated by the images, study the composition and poses, and often simple one-light-setups.

Art-Dept.com -- Fashion, Portraits, Still-life

JedRoot.com -- Fashion, Portraits, Still-life

Workbook.com -- Find what photographers are photographing in your region

Three great blogs for fashion and glamour images Calikartel and DesignScene and Fashiontography.

As you may notice from the video title, we are building a new website for Zeroplusplus.com. Over the next couple of weeks, Tim and I will move content over to the new site, TutorialForPhotography.com. The Zeroplusplus site will remain, however new content will be found on TutorialForPhotography.com.

Thank you Joe, very kind and considerate of you to say that. OH...YES, the Buff forum, that was really good and I enjoyed that forum the most! Good folks on there and the photography was really quite impressive. It was a real shame that Paul shut it down.

Model Mayhem Forum....too much drama and politics for me. I find SUPERB models and stylists on MM, but I shy away from the forums and generally keep my mouth shut. Images speak louder than words, LOL.

    Back to editing video..sigh!

  • @zeroplusplus1 forums do take up a lot of time. I am not as busy as you, so its really good for me because I am learning alot by just reading the forums, mainly on Model Mayhem. I remember you from the Alienbees forum, where you posted some good work and advice. :)

Thanks for the video, there is a lot of good advice to help out newer amateur photographers such as myself.

Tim and I are not on very many photo forums. A few that we comment on once in a while are PhotoCamel, Ephotozine, Fred Miranda, and Model Mayhem.

Forums just take up too much time, LOL.......shooting pays our bills. The two new videos for the series require about 7 days of video editing, recording voice-overs, and creating lighting diagrams for each. It is a huge undertaking to create a 2 hour video.

Tim and I should participate more on photography forums....and we will shortly!

  • Excellent video like always. :)

Can I ask what forums you both are on?
