I don't understand why the people wants to fight/discuss about if X band is "hardcore", "emo","pop", or whats the meaning of "emo" or anything else... If you like, just ENJOY IT!!! all, in the end, is music!! Just hear it, feel it, or whatever you want! Damn it! e_e

Actually, "Emo" is not short for "emotional" at all. It's short for Emotive Hardcore. It used to be a genre of music, kind of like punk. People are just stupid and turned it into a label, because of the way the people looked that listened to it.

People really, just shut the fuck up. Emo means 'emotional' not that hard to figure out. Alesana is emotional, so they can be in the genre 'emo'. I just call it punk or metal. Post hardcore and emo mean nothing to me.

Alesana is NOT emo, the album On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax is based on storys of greek legends and myths, tilting the hourglass is about heros vs villians, if you READ the lyrics its not that hard to see.

@Lancaeron1 You are completely correct. Emo is short for emotional however, it is not correctly represented by the "wrist cutter" that are apparently what "emo" is supposed to be. But as I said, Alesana is NOT "emo" they are a pop metal group that focuses on emotional words, there is a difference between randomness and modern day poets; the group Alesana actually is comprise of modern day "poets" as their lyrics and songs themselves refer to certain characterizations of poetry.
