Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is desperately trying to salvage a nuclear deal with the United States that would give his country access to nuclear fuel and technology for its power plants, despite its refusal to sign the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty. Mr. Singh says although there is some political opposition in India to the deal, he hopes to take a positive message to President Bush when he meets him next week at the G-8 summit in Japan. VOA's Ravi Khanna has more.
Caste based reservation is a serious problem for India. I suggest data based critical review of development of SCs and STs. Castes and Tribes that have developed should be removed from the respective lists of SCs and STs. Thereafter, no reservation for them. Complete exercise may take substantial time but it has the potential to ultimately make India free from Caste-based Reservation. The approach can greatly help in making Caste-less Society. Work needs to be start for this at the earliest.
