On another beautiful day for filming, I've been down to The Gwili Railway in Carmarthen to film the guest loco for the Christmas workings, The Dean Forest Railway's much travelled Ex GWR 0-4-2 Auto Tank No 1450. We see this small loco moving stock on very slippery rails at Bronwydd Arms, followed by several sequences along the line to Lllwyfan Cerrig where the trains terminate to allow a visit to Santa's Grotto.
PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES FOR THE SPELLING MISTAKES THROUGHOUT THIS VIDEO....BOB

  • I love the close-up view of the wheels

  • @MegaTrainlover Thanks very much, it was struggling to keep adhesion, with the driver doing an excellent job...Bob

  • @robmasterman

and he was sanding her as well.

  • @vikingsmb Icy, damp rails, small loco, heavy load and gradient...it all adds to the spectacle, ....with or without sand...Thanks for your comment....Bob

  • @robmasterman

what they should of done in my opinion is do a couple of light engine runs up and down to get the ice off the track. and sand it as well.

  • @vikingsmb Unfortunately this was due to run the first service of the day.....Bob

  • @ShaurntheSheep They are both ex GWR Branch lines that pass through some beautiful rural countryside....so I agree with your observations....Bob

  • I think the line looks similar to the line on titfield thunderbolt espetialy with the 14xx

  • @jamielw143 Thanks Jamie, it does indeed look very much at home....it would be nice to see it working again....Bob

  • Excellent video as usual Bob, 1450 looks fantastic on the Gwili Railway, shame they could not get more use out of it. Also very well filmed by you with great locations and some superb lighting, liked.
