After school on January 4th, I went trackside in hopes of shooting the CCR performing some switching operations in the Cleveland area. This is how the day ended up going:
I caught the northbound to Cleveland with CCRL GP39-2 2372 solo in Bedford, and then once more at E. 93rd St. in Cleveland. After they shoved their empties down towards Miles Road, they waited until after sunset to get a hold of the guys at FPT (Ferrous Steel) to get permission into the plant. So that attempt was bogus.
On the 6th, however, I was a little more lucky. I once again caught up with the train in Bedford after school:
WE GP35 105
WE GP35 106
WE SD40-2 6381
CCRL GP39-2 2372
All the Wheeling units would be required to pull a 45 car loaded scrap train back to Glenwillow later that night. In the meantime, I followed the train first to a spot adjacent to CP 114 on the NS Cleveland Line in Garfield Heights, and then to E. 93rd St. They shoved their cars back to Miles and began work almost immediately at FPT. They put together their train to take south to Glenwillow that night before cutting the Wheeling power from the 2372. From there, they picked up a cut of cars for interchange at E. 65th St. with NS.
I got this maneuver towards the interchange track at CP 117 at Aetna Rd., where they come through the northern gate to FPT.
From there, it was on to Von Willer Yard, where the crew would sort cars for NS to pick up and for them to take east on the Randall Secondary (the old EL First Subdivision). Unfortunately, they wouldn't be out of Von Willer until after sunset, but what I did manage to capture was definitely satisfactory!
Thanks for watching, and next up is a day of action on NS in eastern Ohio!
