Thank you UMG for granting permission to use this classic track.

The backing track for this is the left channel of the original recording. The guitar was mixed hard right on the original recording so it has been completely removed. The original recording has the guitar intro in the left channel but pans to the right during the lick going into the main riff. I really wanted this to be as close to the original as possible so I mixed it the same way. Matching the tone is equally as important as getting the parts down.

I've probably seen Joe Walsh in concert more than any guitarist. I find it peculiar that when great guitarists are discussed, his name rarely comes up. You'd be hard pressed to find a guitarist that puts more of himself into his work than Joe. He was with 'Barnstorm' in the '70s and the concerts I witnessed were some of the best.

  • how many humbuckers on that Telecaster?

  • 0. It has single coils.

  • Great Job! I've now subscribed to your channel.

I had this on my mind the other day when, as I was going through a chicken pickin' exercise, it reminded me of it. Low and behold, at the grocery store the next day I saw the latest Guitar World with this song tabbed. I managed to work out the whole song, minus the solo bit. That's where you came in!

Oh, I also play Tele's too and only have 5 now. Gave one to my niece.

You cannot tell a lie on a Telecaster!

    Tim

  • @b06tmm - Yeah, this sure doesn't lie. i had a guy below tell me he could only hear the original track. He was surprised when I told him it was the track without Joe's guitar. I just gave my son one of my Strats - I sure don't use it!

  • Great job, Sam. I saw those guys in about '72 It was my first ever concert. Jackson Browne opened up for them and ... well, it wasn't a good day for Mr. Browne. You've gotten me more interested than ever to learn new songs. Ah, so many songs, so little time. Keep on posting, I'm very impressed with your playing and enjoying all the songs a ton. Oh, this James Gang tune reminded me of another old one that not many people know. Run, Run, Run by JoJo Gunne. I'd like to hear you do that one.

  • @werogers75 - The earliest I go back is Joe Walsh and Barnstorm at Winterland in S.F. Man, 16 years old and I probably stood there with my jaw dropped to whole time. Those were the days, man...
