O.A.R. "Irish Rose" (Acoustic Guitar Cover)

I may have some details incorrect but the story behind this song is that Marc found a love letter written by a man who lost his wife to cancer. It may have been his goodbye letter. Direct quotes from the letter make up some of the lyrics. Specifically, "I'll be waiting on the rock of ages..." I play this song to remind myself of my aunt who passed away from breast cancer during the fall of 2010. Marc explained the song was not part of the main King album because the subject matter did not fit with the rest of the songs and because it was too difficult for him to experience again and again with his wife's close call with cancer. I would like for Marc and O.A.R. to know, incase they see this ever, how appreciative I am for their courage to express such topics. It is a healing experience for me to play the song when I miss my aunt or think about how difficult it is for my uncle now that she has passed away.

I dedicate this video to all of the loved ones who are left behind to live with the loss of a special person. It is comforting to think the deceased have finally found some peace after such courageous struggles.

This was performed at the Freight and Salvage Coffee House in Berkeley, CA on 11/8/11.
