Event Details

Under new management for its spring 2011 running, Lexington's Run the Bluegrass Half Marathon & 5K will feature a newly designed course that starts and finishes in the Kentucky Horse Park, which hosts world-renowned equestrian events throughout the year and doubles as an educational center on horses for the public, offering tours and programs for visitors.

Runners will get an up-close look at the horse park during the race, as the starting and finish lines are right on the property, at the corner of Cigar Lane and Nina Bonnie Boulevard. From there, runners head through the horse park and onto Iron Works Pike and Newtown Pike, for a stretch that takes them all the way to Fasig-Tipton, the home of the thoroughbred auction house.

Once runners make their way around Fasig-Tipton, they then head back onto Newtown Pike and retrace their steps along the route they ran earlier, heading back onto Iron Works Pike and then back to the Kentucky Horse Park for the race finish back where they started. Before crossing the finish line, runners veer off slighly from their earlier course, and make a full loop around Cigar Lane for the final mile before coming in to cross the finish line.
