  • convenient truth on solid ink:

    1) waste on powerup is about 5g per time, but printer is not designed to be powered on and off and btw this IS Energy Star compliant so in power save it uses 43W, like a low power lamp. Overall it's 1/30th the waste of a color laser, no waste disposal contracts, and uses half the energy during printing, I'll stick to solid ink, thank you very much HP.

BTW out of power save, it's only 1-2 mins and "Intelligent Ready" mode will keep it warm when you really need it.

  • anyone know when the next space shuttle arrives from the moon so I can pick up my order of wax. I think thats where it comes from? can we have those individual polar bears for pets?

  • We'll write some wanker lines for the opposition's customers, we'll drop in some cool references for "our side" - hey, someone Google things that IT people say that we can use in the video - and then it will go viral and... gee, only 20000 views in 3 years? But we got a professional cameraman for this... how could it not go viral? We better have another meeting to talk about it - maybe we didn't drop in enough cool IT references...

  • yeah incredibly expensive to run wax printers... also leave your prints in the car and they will melt and will stain anything they touch in the car. Its a really cool idea and would even be a good one despite all of the cons if it wasn't so damn expensive. laser printers at least colour ones can be thrown away after toner runs out. I got 8,000 prints on my colour laser total cost $500 this thing uses $575 in wax not counting the cost of running the thing and the printer itself.

  • It's that Polar Bear eatting the food

  • That Polar Bear. keeps unplugging it.

  • Recently saw the machine demonstrated at a trade show, the print quality reminded me of blurry cartoon characters in a New York Post column.

  • and thw polar bear moved it while in standby and broke the printer heads

  • We just purchased the 8560MFPD. Great machine! I love solid ink!! So much better for our office and our bottom line!!

  • The solid ink (actually wax balls) gets about half the mileage i get from my laser. I wish I had never bought the s.o.b. The money you save from not having to buy those extra components gets eat up keeping wax on the shelf. Wow who would have ever thought wax would be higher than gasoline.
