I remember that as a a child myself in the 1970s. Our neighbors had two little boys and they watched it with us, I remember the chimes. This was the early 1970s too.

@newtwo101 Hmm? Why? They're groovy.

IF I HEARD THIS MUSIC LATE AT NIGHT AND HOMEALONE TOO. I WOULD FREAKOUT AND TURN MY VIDEO GAME CONSOLES ON VOLUME 100 FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS THEN JUST TO GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD THEN. The other one with the navy blue background with the sesame street ending music doesn'r bug me as much as the funky chimes one does.

LOL, i remember this! good times!

@slmacph LOL I agree.

Also, I'm glad I'm not alone. I used to dread the Funky Chimes, though today, it doesn't scare me at all. Still, when the EAS comes on radio or TV stations, and IT'S USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKIN' NIGHT, I totally get scared, and turn on every light, radio, and TV in the house at full volume. Don't ask, I just do. I wonder what would happen if they all did the test at the same time? I think I'd explode and die.
-
@isolationlogo Just wondering, but did the "This is a test! This station is conduct a test of the Emergency Broadcast System, this is only a test! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This has just been a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. The attention signal you just heard . . . [I forget this part] . . . by alerting this TV station and the local authorities in the event of an actual emergency. This concludes our test of the Emergency Broadcast System! -
You're not alone - I also remember it being very brash. It used to scare me.

@Diosdebaca yes but that child inside of us never dies.
TRUE STORY! I used to cry whenever I heard this but only because I knew that the show was over. Still makes me a little sad--but I still love it. Miss those days!
