Steve Kroft speaks about Harry Markopolos, who was working with an investment firm when he got the OK to alert the SEC about the Madoff investment scandal.
Government responsible for SEC - 'so' Government is liable and reckless and can be sued for losses suffered by the public - any lawyers reading this ? -Get a class-action suit going - milk from the stone lies in Uncle Sam's lap (for a fraudulent and massively incompetent SEC) - very simple/ see 'western law'. (duh)
If an elephant like Madoff can sneak by the SEC then one can't help but wonder about the efficacy of the SEC. How can the SEC have been presented with evidence for such a vulgar--and monumental-- case of fraud and be stymied in their investigation? Astonishing. This case will undoubtedly do much to undermine the confidence of the american public in our financial institutions and the Gov. agencies that regulate them. Just what we need during a major recession. What a mess.
