so by the same argument, because there are many areas of the universe that are inhospitable to life, it is reasonable to conclude that God doesn't exist ...
@12Ominous no, angry at the deluded perpetuating lies, and poisoning young minds and have to much political clout as well as infecting education. .silly boy. your faith is no stronger than anothers. also like to add, you have posted many times on this athiest video, which only proves one thing that you have to back up your false claims or your dream will perish. have some faith man. lol.peace and love to all.
@TomFynn No actually. About as legit as the calculation of the diameter of the universe and the amount of time the earth has existed -14.5 billion years. What you think these are measured with a ruler? It's an approximation, as are all statistics when large numbers and uncertain variables are concerned. If you presume the earth is 14.5 billion years old than you must also believe in the other approximate numbers academics publish.
@12Ominous There's no such thing as "odds" if you want to be precise. There's probability. And probability depends on the pre-conditions.
The probability of there being this planet, and life on it, is exactly "1" as far as we're sure we aren't a butterfly dreaming of being Chuang Chou. The odds you're referring to may only be applied to there being other planets or life. Quite in accord with the low numbers, nobody found one yet.
As a kid I believed absolutely in the existence of Santa Clause and the tooth fairy. My mum and my teachers told me about it, I had books and cartoons about it. As I got older and learned more I needed more actual evidence. There was none except that which was purely anecdotal. No hard evidence (sound familiar) and I grew out of it and now look back and think how gullible and hopeful I was. Religion used to be a way of plugging gaps in our knowledge. Now it is useful only to control the masses.
To those of you claiming that the universe is "too perfect" for the conditions to have occurred by chance, you're equivalent to a rich man living in a rich neighbourhood asking why his neighbours have expensive cars. If earth was the only planet (of about 10^18) in the universe with life on it (which I doubt, but bear with me), of course our universe is perfect for life to occur - if it wasn't LIFE WOULDN'T OCCUR AND WE WOULDN'T BE HERE TO QUESTION IT. Does that not make sense?
@jpmortician So will you, so will I.. but to no god.

@TomFynn Not just the numbers you want to believe.

@solitaryman098 But since you love to shout fallacy every-time I put forth a logical, outside of the box contention, I will.
