  • Okay, I haven't seen my parakeet drinking water. How often would they drink. Or do they just take small amounts. Sorry, but I'm just a little curious and worried

  • @3SPaki I'm sure your parakeet is fine! These little birds don't need a lot of water. I can go days without seeing any of my birds drink water. Assuming you're changing the water at least everyday, you will most likely not see any water level changes unless your bird takes baths (which some parakeets love to do!). If this is a new bird, I would recommend providing your bird with a small lid-full of water at the bottom of the cage without clutter around it, and this would be the same for food.

  • is it ok to put two male cockatiels in one cage? im getting a cockatiel, don't know if the male/female or male/male but im curious...don't want them hurting each other.

  • @Jesvel18 I have 2 male tiels and they're been living together ever since Bebe was a nestling. With my experience, there's rarely any issues with fighting and when there is the occasional bickering, I just put the one bird that's being picked on onto the playpen area. If you're introducing a new bird or getting two new birds that aren't familiar with each other, make sure to quarantine them and then slowly introduce them so they can get used to the new environment first, and then to each other.

  • my parakeet never wants to eat corn :P

  • @csikder15 Do you feed your parakeet any other fresh foods? A varied diet is best. Try foods like apple, nectarines, plums, spinach, watercress or celery leaves. My birds usually want to try what I'm eating. If they end up liking it, I keep a mental note and add it to their diet to keep it varied.

  • It's pretty sad that bird's can go along with each other and humans cannot

  • @tubular829 From what I know, I'm pretty sure that your cockatiel feels like she's being threatened basically. Her cage is like her little area, and allowing your budgies to play on/near her cage (no matter how adorable they are) isn't going to coerce your cockatiel into liking your budgies. If your birds are tame enough, I would suggest letting all your birds play in a neutral area and giving out treats or toys that everyone would like. Just like people, birds can bond over similar interests :]

  • Now all you need is the NOM NOM NOM song.

  • I have 2 parakeets, and a Cockatiel, both of the parakeets are extremely anti social despite our best efforts to train them (it's been almost 5 years) and the cockatiel hates the parakeets, although he has no problem with other cockatiels, i think he may be racist.

  • Oh wow - they love that! Very cute birds. I'll have to steam come corn for my cockatiels tonight!

  • so cute

  • @3SPaki for my birds when i change their waetr bowl they stare at it but when i change their bath water they drink it and bathe....mostly they drink 2 sips in 1 day.. so he/she probably drinks when ur not home

  • I have a 19-year old male cockatiel, too. I'm afraid of him dying! His wife of 15 years died this summer. I have not idea of the cause. She was fine in the morning, and at evening feeding she was laboring to breathe... She had numerouse small health problems, but, still!

  • Funny. My cockatiels and parekeets are always at war....I,m always a referee when I let them out.

  • we had does one time
