Paramedics have dangerous jobs and face the same conditions as police and fire, which is way we as BCAS Paramedics are asking for wage parity with VPD.

  • The title of this video should be "BC Ambulance DESERVES wage parity"

  • @Defuf ---it takes about 5 months. The $2.00 an hour is for carrying the pager. When on a callout they get a regular wage and once they are clear of the call they go back to $2.00 an hour simply for carrying a pager. Our paramedics want more then a decent wage, they want new vehicles as our cars our getting outdated and they want better working conditions, etc.

  • Same here in Austria. Medics get paid way less then fire and pd.

So did it work out for them?

  • Whats the Difference between The First responder & health care workers isn't it the same thing for a paramedic. Is it true It takes 4 months to become a paramedic In BC ? And No way 2$ an Hour how much do they reallty get paid lets just say someone just starts out on the job whats the salery like ?

  • Those firefighters who carry pagers are paid on call or volunteer. They do it more for their community than for money, and they already have an actual career with a real salary. Paramedics who get paid $2/hour, well, that's their primary job. In BC, you need to work 5-6 years with a pager before you get hired full-time. It's the only way. And $18/hour to save lives? C'mon. Lifeguards make more. It takes less than 2 weeks of training to become a lifeguard.

  • firefighters get zero bucks an hour to carry a bleeper. Paramedics aren't actually "working" for $2 an hour you donuts. They get paid that for just carrying the bleeper. $16-$30 an hour is what they get paid when actually at work.

  • Its about time BCAS Hit youtube with some Strike Videos... I hope to see some bigger and harder job action in the future. I say you cut off all non-essential calls to the rich areas. Find out where those politicians live and stop servicing them.

  • i work at school "supervising" and i just play computer games and i make $6 an hour what the fuck. im 14.

  • cool

  • nice video
